End of Year Message

Hello parents,

It has been quite a year.  We would have never thought the school year would end like this.  I would like to thank you for all your support throughout the year.  I especially thank you for your support during our time at home.  Most of the students did a great job completing their assignments as best as they could.  I understand that everybody had obstacles that they had to overcome such as internet connectivity, working from home, and becoming a home-teacher.  I am so thankful to have had a great group of students.  I only wish I could have been with them in the classroom for the rest of the school year.  They are all so intelligent, and I know they will have success.  I wish them all the best in 3rd grade and beyond.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that this will be my last year at Budlong Elementary.  I am moving to a school closer to my home that will save me 40 minutes off my commute.  This move allows me more time with my family.  I usually see my former students throughout the school, so I am saddened that I will not have that opportunity with your children.  I will definitely miss Budlong and the entire community.  I worked my whole career in this community since 1998 and was able to see students grow to be adults.  Wow, I feel old!  I came to love it here and will always appreciate the love and respect I received from all the children and families that I have had the honor to meet.  I will still have the same email address and website in case anyone would like to communicate with me.

As for next week, we will be passing out special summer backpacks and the students’ desk items on June 10 – 12 from 9am – 12pm each day.  You may come to the classroom on any of those 3 days to pick up these items.  I will also be handing out report cards on those days.  If you have signed up your child for an online summer school class, you may keep your computers until the end of July.  The school will send more instructions later in the summer.  If your child is not taking a summer class, please return the device with it’s cord on one of these days.  After June 9th, the passwords will all change and your child will no longer have access to the computer unless they are taking a summer class.  In addition, if your child will not be attending Budlong next year, please return your computer with it’s cord. (very important)  I have heard that some families simply want to hand in their computers.  That is ok as well.  If your computer has been broken, or is malfunctioning in any way, please write what is wrong on a paper, and tape the paper to the top of the computer when you return it.  It will help the technology specialist in trying to fix the device.  Please charge the computer before returning it.  I will be asking you to turn on the computer to make sure it is in working condition.  Thank you so much.

Lastly, I ask that if anyone has a Budlong library book, please return it to me so that you do not get charged for it.  Oh, also return the Stuart Little book.  Thanks!  The school asks that everyone who comes to the school please wear a face covering, adhere to social distancing rules, and do not allow your children to run or play.  We want to keep the process as safe as we can for all families and staff.  Once again, thank you for all your support and understanding this school year.  Have a wonderful, safe, and healthy summer with your families.

Sincerely,

Mr. Frias
